Secrets to Broke Wine Tasting– Los Olivos, CA

Last weekend my girlfriends and I (including the intrepid travellingmo!) descended on the Los Olivos/Solvang/Buellton area for our annual girl’s getaway weekend. We tasted excellent wine (and beer!), we dined on gourmet cheeses, salami, and quinoa salad, we lounged in sulfur mineral springs and swam in the beautiful blue Pacific! And the entire weekend cost […]

Easter in the Duomo: A moment for spirituality

Michael and I were on our honeymoon in Italy and had started out our trip in Florence. Although Florence is one of the most touristy towns in a country that snags over 46.1 billion tourists a year, I can’t help but love it. The town is absolutely beautiful and you can’t walk five feet without stumbling across a bit of classical statuary, a mathematically perfect building, an amazing Italian restaurant (but really, what Italian restaurant isn’t amazing?) or a gelato stand. If the townspeople had had the presence of mind to throw a grand medieval castle into the mix I would dub Firenze heaven on earth and you would never hear from me again.

Our distributors won’t let us sell in the UK and someone in Arizona can’t find the charger for the quadcopter they just ordered, even though I sent him pictures of where is it in the packaging. My boss doesn’t […]

Why I Travel

Before the 1960s, running for fun and fitness was something done by crazy jogging nerds in New Zealand. Running a marathon, or even a 10k, was not on the standard life achievement list and no one had even dreamed of ‘Couch to 5k’. In 1897, the first Boston Marathon only attracted 18 entrants. In 1972, […]

This week April 23: Too Much AWESOME– Skydiving!!!

This weekend held a mind-blowing amount of Awesome. No only was I able to fight over 50 rapier matches on Saturday afternoon (I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it before but one of my major hobbies is medieval reenactment, specifically rapier fighting–think Three Musketeers) but the awesomeness of Saturday afternoon was trampled by the awesomeness of Professional Wrestling Guerrilla’s […]
