Eurovision– where have you been all my life? Oh, that’s right, you’ve been in Europe. And I’ve been in the US, where you can usually guess the outcome of singing competitions by the cup size or the sob story. Every time I hear the word Eurovision, however, it seems to be paired with either something awesome, eclectic, or both. For example, check out Russia’s entry this year, the singing Grannies (or Buranovskiye Babushki). Apparently in the morning they feed their goats and in the evening they win national singing competitions:
Also in this year’s highlights (the final competition will be held May 22-26th in Baku, Azerbaijan) is Engelbert Humperdinck (best name ever!!)
I’ll post more as I get a chance to sort through my favorites.
That looks incredible! A few years ago Israel’s entry was this gorgeous transvestite named Dana International. Eurovision: yet another reason that Europe’s wackiness trumps America’s.
